Crafting should be fun

Crafting should be fun. That's the whole point.

Hi! I'm Kate. I'm a knitter, crocheter, former software developer, and the maker behind ColourPopCrafts. I believe crafting should be joyful, a little bit magical, and give your imagination room to run wild. Not intimidating. Just colour, texture, and the quiet thrill of making something with your own two hands.

That belief is the reason ColourPopCrafts exists at all.

How It Started

For years, knitting and crochet were the thing I did around everything else. The in-between moments of a career that didn't leave much room for imagination. Crafting brought the joy back. It reminded me what it felt like to build something just because it was fun, not because it was useful or productive or impressive.

Surprisingly, my shop started not with the yarn, but with a 3D printer. I'd been knitting and crocheting for years, but I wanted tools that felt more me: colourful, whimsical, inspired by the fantasy stories I loved to read. So I started designing my own.

Not long after, I started adding yarn to the shop too. Every skein earns its place the same way: picked for its colour, an interesting texture, or a feel I couldn't put down. If it doesn't make me want to touch it, it doesn't make the cut.

For a year, I spent my evenings designing, printing, and perfecting. Then, in 2026, I went full-time with ColourPopCrafts, opened my cosy little studio, and set up my very first market stall. It was nerve-wracking and wonderful.

I'm not here to sell you the "correct" way to knit a sweater or the most efficient way to finish a project. I'm here because I think crafting is supposed to be fun. It's supposed to bring you joy, not stress. It's supposed to be a space where your imagination gets to lead. Where a stitch marker can be shaped like a cat just because that makes you smile every time you reach for it.

Every tool, yarn, and accessory in the shop is chosen with that in mind:

  • Beautiful yarns, carefully curated for colour, texture, and feel.
  • My own patterns, like the Enschede Socks, designed to make colourwork feel achievable and genuinely fun.
  • Unique, handmade and 3D-printed tools, designed and made by me in small batches. Nothing you'll find anywhere else.
  • Friendly, honest support. Clear guidance over jargon, and real answers when you're stuck.
  • Every order packed by hand, with love and, usually, a bit of sparkle.

Why makers keep coming back

I'm a crafter first, and everything in the shop is something I'd actually use myself.

My goal is to help you fall a little more in love with your craft, and remember that it's allowed to be fun.

You bring the imagination. I'll bring the colour.
